Private Kahoot quizzes, challenge links and solo links
A private Kahoot quiz can't be read from its quiz ID, so the Answer Solver asks for the live game PIN or a challenge link instead. Challenge PINs, challenge links and solo links all work. A lookup that returns answers costs 5 task credits on any plan.
- Private quiz ID
- Can't be read
- Enter instead
- Live game PIN or challenge link
- Solo links
- Resolved through the challenge PIN
- Cost
- 5 task credits when answers return
How it works
- Spot the private quiz
The result says This quiz is private.
- Find a game or challenge
Use the live PIN or the challenge link instead.
- Get Answers
Answers arrive at once or as the game goes on.
Why a Kahoot private quiz ID shows no answers
Kahoot shares a public quiz with anyone who has its link or quiz ID. A Kahoot private quiz is only shared with players in a game or challenge that uses it. When you enter the Kahoot quiz ID of a private quiz, Kahoot refuses to share it, and the run ends with: This quiz is private. Enter the live game PIN or challenge link instead.
No credits are used for that refusal. Credits are charged only when answers are returned.
Kahoot private game answers from a live PIN
If the private quiz is being played live, enter the game PIN from the host's screen. The Answer Solver joins the lobby under your bot name (it never answers) and collects answers from the game:
- If the private quiz is a copy of a public kahoot with the same first question and number of questions, the answers come from that public original when every match agrees.
- Otherwise question 1 is answered when the game starts. If the host shows questions on players' devices, each later question is solved while it's open, from verified answers first and then AI.
- If the host doesn't show questions on players' devices, each answer appears after its question closes.
- The run leaves once every answer is known, when the game ends, or after 45 minutes at most.
Kahoot challenge links and challenge PINs
A challenge (a kahoot assigned to play on your own time) is the easiest case. Its PIN appears in links like kahoot.it/challenge/1234567. Enter that Kahoot challenge PIN or the whole link. StudyOutlaws reads the challenge directly, so it usually works for private quizzes too, and it doesn't join anything or post into the challenge.
Some Kahoot challenge links carry only a long challenge ID: the quiz ID followed by an underscore and a long number, sometimes after challenge-id= in the address. StudyOutlaws asks Kahoot which PIN belongs to that challenge, then reads it the same way.
- If Kahoot no longer knows the challenge, the run says: Kahoot didn't find this challenge, so it may have ended. Enter the challenge's game PIN instead, the number in links like kahoot.it/challenge/1234567.
- Ask whoever shared the challenge for its PIN if you only have an expired link.
Kahoot solo link formats
- kahoot.it/solo/ followed by a challenge ID: a Kahoot solo link for a challenge. It's resolved through the challenge's PIN, as above.
- kahoot.it/solo?quizId= followed by a quiz ID: this names the quiz only. It works when the quiz is public; a private one gives the private-quiz message.
- kahoot.it/solo on its own: the address of a player screen with no game in it. It's refused at once with a request for the game PIN.
What to enter for each situation
- The class is playing live now
Enter the game PIN from the host's screen while the lobby is open.
- You were assigned a challenge
Enter the challenge link or the PIN inside it.
- You only have a private quiz link
Wait for a live game or challenge that uses it. The link alone can't be read.
- You have a public quiz link
Enter it directly. The whole answer key comes back without joining any game.
When the live PIN is blocked too
A live PIN only helps if the bot can join. Two-step join and a player identifier keep bots out, and a locked lobby keeps everyone out. If a private quiz meets one of these settings, the Chrome extension in your own game tab is the remaining option. Kahoot lobby settings that block bots explains each one.
Common questions
Does a Kahoot hack work on a private quiz?
Not from the quiz ID alone, because Kahoot won't share a private quiz that way. From a live game PIN or a challenge it often works: the answers come from a public original, from the challenge itself, or from the game as it runs.
Why does my challenge link say the challenge may have ended?
Kahoot didn't return a challenge for that ID, usually because it closed. Enter the challenge's game PIN if you have it.
Will the teacher see anything when I use a challenge PIN?
A challenge PIN is read directly and nothing joins the challenge. A live game PIN is different: the bot shows in the lobby under your bot name and stays on the scoreboard with 0 points.
Why do private Kahoot answers arrive one at a time?
The quiz has no matching public original and the host isn't showing questions on players' devices, so each answer appears once Kahoot reveals it after the question.
