Membean did not offer a session length: what it means
Membean decides which training lengths each student account can start. When your chosen length isn't offered, StudyOutlaws starts the closest one Membean does offer and says so in the log. The error Membean did not offer a N-minute session or any other session length means Membean showed no length at all, so check the account in Membean.
- Lengths you can pick
- 5 to 60 minutes, 15 by default
- Who decides
- Membean, per student account
- Length not offered
- Closest offered length starts
- No length offered
- Run stops; check Membean
How it works
- Read the log
A warning means a different length started.
- Check Membean
Sign in as the student and look at the training start.
- Match the length
Save a length Membean offers, then run again.
How the Membean session length is chosen
In the Normal Session tool you pick 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 45 or 60 minutes; the default is 15. Membean, not StudyOutlaws, decides which of those a student can actually start. The lengths on offer differ from one account and teacher to another.
When a run starts, StudyOutlaws opens Membean's training start for the linked account and looks for your length. If it's there, that length starts.
When your length isn't offered
If Membean doesn't offer your length, the Membean training session still starts, with the closest length Membean does offer: the longest one shorter than yours, or if there is none, the shortest one longer than yours. The session log shows a warning such as: Membean offered no 20-minute session; started the 15-minute session instead. The job records the length that really ran.
Nothing needs fixing here, but if you see this warning on every run, change the Duration to a length Membean offers and save your schedule again, so the log matches what runs.
Membean did not offer any session length
The full message is: Membean did not offer a 15-minute session or any other session length for this account (with your length in place of 15). It means Membean's training start for that account showed no length StudyOutlaws could start. Because StudyOutlaws already tries every other length, choosing a different Duration won't fix it. The reason is on the Membean side, and you can see it when you sign in.
Check the account in Membean
- Sign in to Membean as the student
Use the same login that's linked in StudyOutlaws, in a normal browser window.
- Open training
Go to where you would start a training session yourself and see which lengths appear.
- Deal with anything Membean shows instead
If Membean shows a message or a step to finish before training, complete it there. If there's no way to start training at all, ask the teacher, who manages the class in Membean.
- Pick a length you saw
In the dashboard, set Duration to one of the lengths Membean listed.
- Run again
Press Run now, or wait for the next scheduled run.
Session length in saved schedules
Schedules run the length saved with them, and each scheduled run follows the same rules: the closest offered length starts when yours isn't offered, and the run stops when none is. If a schedule's last error shows this message, check Membean as above, update the Duration if needed, save the schedule and resume it. The Membean session bot can only start a length Membean offers; it can't add one.
Common questions
Why did a 15-minute session start when I chose 20 minutes?
Membean didn't offer 20 minutes for that account, so StudyOutlaws started the longest shorter length it did offer. The log names both lengths.
Will picking another length fix the did-not-offer error?
No. StudyOutlaws already tries the other lengths before it shows this error. Membean showed no length to start, so sign in to Membean and see what it shows.
Can StudyOutlaws add a length Membean doesn't offer?
No. The Membean bot can only start a session Membean offers to that account. Which lengths appear is up to Membean and the student's class.
Does a Membean hack session that stopped this way use credits?
No. Normal Session is part of Ultimate and uses no task credits, whether it runs or stops.
